Publication order or chronological order, which should I read first?
Publication order, in almost every case. It is the order the author wrote and released the books, so reveals and callbacks land the way they were intended. Chronological order is best kept for a re-read, or for series where the author has explicitly recommended it.
Why do some series show a chronological view and others do not?
A chronological view appears only where a source records a separate in-universe sequence. When the toggle is missing, no source listed one; that does not prove the series has no different in-universe order, and showing one would mean guessing.
Why are there no star ratings or reviews?
None of the sources used here publish ratings or reviews. Rather than invent numbers and attach them to real books, those fields are left out entirely.
Why do some books have no cover image?
Covers come from Open Library, matched by ISBN. Where Open Library has no cover for that edition, or the book has no ISBN on record, a drawn placeholder is shown instead.
Why is an author missing a description or photo?
Descriptions are written only from facts the catalogues record, and photos are shown only when a freely licensed photo is confirmed to be that author. When neither can be confirmed, the page leaves them out rather than risk describing or picturing the wrong person with the same name.
A book is in the wrong order, or the series looks incomplete.
Positions come from the source directories, which occasionally disagree or miss an entry. Some publisher lines have been checked against official series numbers or confirmed publication dates. If something still looks wrong, the contact page explains what to send so it can be checked.
Is my reading shelf stored anywhere?
No. Your shelf and checklists live in your own browser’s local storage. There is no account, no sync, and nothing is transmitted. Clearing your browser data clears them.
