Alexandra Ripley (1934-2004) was an American novelist, born Alexandra Braid. Ripley wrote Scarlett (1991) as a sequel to Gone with the Wind, and the catalogue files the work under historical romance, love stories and the American Civil War. A first novel, Who's That Lady in the President's Bed?, appeared in 1972 under the name B.K. Ripley. Charleston (1981) was Ripley's first historical novel and a bestseller, as were On Leaving Charleston (1984), The Time Returns (1985) and New Orleans Legacy (1987).
