Suzanne Collins built The Hunger Games on Panem, a wrecked North America where a rich Capitol governs 12 districts held in poverty. Punishment for an old rebellion takes the form of a yearly battle royale: each district hands over two children between 12 and 18, and the last one alive is named victor. Katniss Everdeen carries the original young adult trilogy, and two prequels extend the history around her. Five books span 2008 to 2025, from The Hunger Games to Sunrise on the Reaping, and Collins has not closed the sequence.
