Alma Alexander is the pen name of Alma A. Hromic, born in 1963 in Yugoslavia. Alexander grew up across Zambia, Eswatini and South Africa, spent time in England and New Zealand, and settled in Bellingham, Washington. The fantasy runs to 33 books: the Worldweavers books for young adults, The Secrets of Jin-shei and its sequel Embers of Heaven, The Hidden Queen and Changer of Days. Shapeshifting, queens, sisters and female friendship recur, through to The Shadow Before the Dawn in 2026.
