Anthony Boucher was the pen name of William Anthony Parker White, an American writer, critic and editor born on 21 August 1911 who died on 29 April 1968. White produced mystery novels, short stories, science fiction and radio plays. From 1942 to 1947 White reviewed books, mainly mysteries, for the San Francisco Chronicle. Another pen name, H. H. Holmes, came from a 19th-century American serial killer, and light verse appeared under that killer's real name, Herman W. Mudgett.
