Bram Stoker, born Abraham Stoker (8 November 1847 – 20 April 1912), was an Irish writer, barrister, literary critic and theatre manager, and the author of the Gothic horror novel Dracula (1897). Count Dracula and the novel are milestones of Gothic and vampire fiction. The third of seven children, Stoker spent the first seven years of life bedridden with an undiagnosed illness, was taught at home, and entered Trinity College Dublin in 1864, excelling at rugby and taking a prominent part in the student union and the philosophical society. The catalogue lists 38 titles, from The Crystal Cup (1872) and The Duties of Clerks of Petty Sessions in Ireland (1879) to The Snake's Pass (1890) and The Judge's House (1891).
