Bryan Stevenson, born November 14, 1959, is an American lawyer, social justice activist and professor at New York University School of Law. Stevenson is the founder and executive director of the Equal Justice Initiative and is based in Montgomery, Alabama. Stevenson has challenged bias against the poor and minorities in criminal justice, especially children, and helped secure Supreme Court decisions barring death sentences and mandatory life terms without parole for juvenile offenders.
