Carlo Rovelli is an Italian theoretical physicist who works chiefly on quantum gravity and founded the theory of loop quantum gravity. Rovelli holds an emeritus chair at the Centre de Physique Théorique in Marseille and has worked in Italy, the United States, France and Canada.
