Catherine Hernandez is a Canadian writer and former artistic director of the Sulong and b_current theatre companies in Toronto. The debut novel Scarborough (2017) was a finalist for the 2017 Toronto Book Awards and the 2018 Edmund White Award, and became a film by Shasha Nakhai and Rich Williamson that premiered at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival. Crosshairs (2020) is the second novel. Hernandez has also written plays, including Singkil and The Femme Playlist, and the children's book M is for Mustache. Hernandez is queer and of mixed Filipino, Chinese, Spanish and Indian descent.
