Christopher Rowley, born in Lynn, Massachusetts in 1948 to an American mother and an English father, writes science fiction and fantasy. Rowley was educated mainly at Brentwood School in Essex, worked as a London journalist in the 1970s and moved to New York in 1977; he is also a former television screenwriter. His debut, The War for Eternity (1983), won the Compton Crook Award. Dragons and the character Bazil Broketail appear among his subjects, and his 23 books include the Fenrille, Vang and Books of Arna series.
