Clarice Lispector (1920–1977) was a Ukrainian-born Brazilian novelist and short story writer. Her fiction turns inward on intimacy and introspection and reworks narrative form as it goes, and Near to the Wild Heart (1943) and The Hour of the Star (1977) are the works she is best known for.
