David Farland was a pen name of John David Wolverton (1957-2022), who also published as Dave Wolverton. Wolverton wrote science fiction and fantasy, edited, and taught online writing workshops, and produced 24 stories for the Star Wars franchise and 3 for the Mummy franchise. The Runelords books reached international bestseller lists, the New York Times list among them. Wolverton won the Writers of the Future contest in 1987 and took a Nebula Award nomination in 1990.
