David Gerrold, born Jerrold David Friedman on January 24, 1944, is an American science fiction novelist and screenwriter. Gerrold wrote the original Star Trek episode "The Trouble with Tribbles" and created the Sleestak for Land of the Lost. The novelette The Martian Child won the Hugo and Nebula Awards and became a 2007 film starring John Cusack.
