Donna Morrissey, born in 1956 at The Beaches, Newfoundland, is a Canadian novelist now settled in Halifax, Nova Scotia. Morrissey left The Beaches at 16 and later studied at Memorial University, taking a Bachelor of Social Work and a diploma in adult education, and has also written a Gemini-nominated screenplay. Six of the novels reached national bestseller lists: Kit's Law (1999), Downhill Chance (2002), Sylvanus Now (2004), What They Wanted (2006), The Deception of Livvy Higgs and The Fortunate Brother.
