Elliot Ackerman is an American novelist and journalist who served as a Marine Raider and as a CIA Special Activities Officer. War, refugees, Afghanistan, Turkey and the Middle East are the material of his 9 catalogued books, which run from Green on Blue (2015) to Sheepdogs (2025). Dark at the Crossing (2017), Waiting for Eden (2018) and Red Dress in Black and White (2020) are among the novels; Places and Names (2019) and The Fifth Act (2022) are memoirs, the second an account of America's end in Afghanistan. Ackerman also wrote 2034: A Novel of the Next World War, along with 2054 and 2084. Nominations include the National Book Award, the Dayton Literary Peace Prize, and the Andrew Carnegie Medals in fiction and in non-fiction.
