Honorée Fanonne Jeffers, born in 1967, is an American poet and novelist and a professor of English at the University of Oklahoma. Five poetry collections and one novel stand to the name. The Age of Phillis (2020) reexamines the life of the poet Phillis Wheatley; it was longlisted for the National Book Award for Poetry and took the 2021 NAACP Image Award for Outstanding Literary Work in poetry. The first novel, The Love Songs of W.E.B. DuBois, was published by HarperCollins in 2021. Eight books span 2000 to 2025, from The Gospel of Barbecue to Misbehaving at the Crossroads: Essays & Writings.
