Jean Lorrah, born in 1940, is an American science fiction and fantasy author who taught English at Murray State University from 1968 to 2008, the first woman outside nursing and home economics hired there with a doctorate; the Ph.D. came from Florida State University. Lorrah wrote several Star Trek novels, often with her writing and business partner Jacqueline Lichtenberg, and their later work together covers the Sime~Gen Universe. The Savage Empire, a 1980s fantasy series, is mostly solo work.
