Jill Paton Walsh, 1937 to 2020, was an English novelist and children's writer, born Gillian Bliss and later Baroness Hemingford. Knowledge of Angels, nominated for the Booker Prize, stands among the best known of the work, along with the Peter Wimsey and Harriet Vane mysteries that continued Dorothy L. Sayers's series.
