Jonas Hassen Khemiri, born 27 December 1978, is a Swedish writer of six novels, seven plays and a collection of essays, stories and plays, translated into more than 25 languages. Khemiri has won the August Prize and a Village Voice Obie Award for best script. In 2017 Khemiri became the first Swedish writer to publish a short story in The New Yorker. The Family Clause won the Prix Médicis and was a National Book Award finalist. Khemiri moved to New York in 2021 on a Cullman Fellowship and teaches creative writing at NYU.
