Robinson's novels and stories frequently carry ecological, cultural and political themes and make scientists the heroes. Robinson has won the Hugo and Nebula awards for Best Novel and the World Fantasy Award. The Atlantic described the work as the gold standard of realistic, highly literary science fiction.
