Kōji Suzuki (1957-2026) was a Japanese novelist, born in Hamamatsu and resident in Tokyo, best known for the Ring novels. Ring (1991), Spiral (1995), Loop (1998) and Birthday (1999) make up that sequence, adapted since into films, manga, television and video games. Suzuki graduated from Keio University before his first novel, Paradise (1990), and also wrote about fatherhood. Fantasy, time travel and homicide investigation fill the rest of the catalogue, Dark Water (2004) and Edge (2012) among it. Twelve books reach The Shining Sea (2022), at a median of 282 pages.
