Kwei Quartey is a Ghanaian-American writer of detective fiction and a retired physician. Quartey studied medicine at Howard University, began practising in California in 1990, founded a wound care centre at the clinic where he worked, and wrote in the early mornings for about 20 years while still seeing patients. Wife of the Gods (2009) made the Los Angeles Times Bestseller List, and the G.O.G. National Book Club named Quartey Best Male Author the following year.
