Leslie Marmon Silko, born Leslie Marmon on March 5, 1948, is an American writer of Laguna Pueblo descent who lives in Tucson, Arizona. Critic Kenneth Lincoln named a Native American Renaissance, and Silko belongs to its First Wave. Honours for Silko include the Robert Kirsch Award (2020), a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Native Writers' Circle of the Americas (1994) and a MacArthur Foundation Grant in the program's first year, 1981.
