Michael Gruber writes suspense novels. Jimmy Paz, a Cuban American police detective, carries one series, and shamanism, anthropology and crimes against women run through those books. Before publishing under his own name, Gruber ghostwrote the Robert K. Tanenbaum series of Butch Karp novels, from No Lesser Plea through to Resolved. Gruber was born in Brooklyn in 1940, holds a doctorate in biology, worked as a cook, marine biologist, speechwriter and government official before turning novelist, and lives in Seattle.
