Miriam Toews is a Canadian novelist, born in 1964, with ten catalogued books published between 1996 and 2025. Summer of My Amazing Luck (1996) opens the list; A Complicated Kindness (2004), All My Puny Sorrows (2014) and Women Talking (2018) are the best known. Mennonite life, Manitoba, single mothers, sisters and family life recur as subjects. Toews has won the Governor General's Award for Fiction and the Rogers Writers' Trust Fiction Prize twice, was three times a finalist for the Scotiabank Giller Prize, and took the Writers' Trust Engel/Findley Award for the body of work. Acting in Carlos Reygadas's film Silent Light, winner of the 2007 Cannes Jury Prize, fed the fifth novel, Irma Voth (2011).
