Natasha Trethewey is an American poet, born on 26 April 1966, who served as United States Poet Laureate from 2012 to 2014 and earlier as Poet Laureate of Mississippi. Native Guard (2006) took the Pulitzer Prize in Poetry in 2007. Trethewey holds the Board of Trustees Professorship of English at Northwestern University and taught at Emory University from 2001 to 2017. Nine books run from Domestic Work: Poems (2000) to The House of Being (2024), with Bellocq's Ophelia, Thrall: Poems and Memorial Drive: A Daughter's Memoir among them.
