Nicolas Freeling (1927–2003) was a British crime novelist best known for Van der Valk, a series of Dutch police procedurals set largely in Amsterdam. Love in Amsterdam (1962) opened the catalogue, and Thames Television made Van der Valk for ITV in the 1970s, revived it in 1991 and remade it in 2020.
