Otsuichi is the pen name of Hirotaka Adachi, a Japanese writer and filmmaker born 21 October 1978, who belongs to the Mystery Writers of Japan as well as to the Honkaku Mystery Writers Club of Japan. The debut came while Adachi was still at high school, with Summer, Fireworks and My Corpse (1996). Goth won the 2003 Honkaku Mystery Award and was adapted as a comic and a feature film; the Zoo short story collections were filmed too.
