Peter Soyer Beagle, born April 20, 1939, is an American novelist and screenwriter, mainly of fantasy fiction. The Last Unicorn (1968) is Beagle's best-known work, and Locus subscribers voted the book the number five All-Time Best Fantasy Novel in 1987. Beagle received a World Fantasy Award for Life Achievement in 2011, and SFWA named Beagle a Damon Knight Memorial Grand Master in 2018.
