Robert Fordyce Aickman (1914-1981) was an English writer and conservationist who called his supernatural fiction strange stories. Aickman built those stories on unsettling atmosphere and indirect suggestion, with characters dislocated in time and space, rather than on explicit horror or gore. Away from fiction, Aickman co-founded the Inland Waterways Association, which saved and restored England's inland canal system. The catalogue holds 20 titles published between 1964 and 2020, opening with Dark Entries (1964), and indexes them under English ghost stories, horror and single-author short story collections.
