Robert Ranke Graves (24 July 1895 - 7 December 1985) was an English poet, novelist and critic. Graves's father was the Irish poet Alfred Perceval Graves, a figure in the Gaelic revival, and father and son both studied Irish mythology. Graves produced more than 140 works, among them the First World War memoir Good-Bye to All That and The White Goddess (1948), a study of poetic inspiration.
