Dusty Answer (1927), Rosamond Lehmann's first novel, caused a scandal on publication. Lehmann, born Rosamond Nina Lehmann on 3 February 1901, was an English novelist and translator who died on 12 March 1990. After the debut, Lehmann became an established literary figure and grew close to members of the Bloomsbury set. The Ballad and the Source (1944) drew especially strong critical praise. The catalogue lists 16 books through Rosamond Lehmann's Album (1986), including A Note in Music (1930), Invitation to the Waltz (1932), The Weather in the Streets (1936) and The Echoing Grove (1953), with the Olivia Curtis and Rebecca Landon series.
