Russell Kirkpatrick (1961 - 26 June 2026) was a New Zealand novelist, cartographer, photographer and geography lecturer who completed two fantasy trilogies and contributed to a number of atlases. The catalogue opens with Bateman Contemporary Atlas New Zealand (1996) and runs to Silent Sorrow (2021). Six novels sit between them: Across the Face of the World and In the Earth Abides the Flame (both 2004), The Right Hand of God (2005), Path of Revenge (2007), Dark Heart (2008) and Beyond the Wall of Time (2009), filed under epic fantasy with subjects of immortality, gods and wizards. Kirkpatrick took New Zealand's Sir Julius Vogel Award for best adult novel three times, and lectured at the University of Canberra from 2022 to 2026.
