Ruth Reichl, born in 1948, is an American chef, food writer and editor who spent two decades as a food critic, mostly at the Los Angeles Times and The New York Times. Reichl edited Gourmet magazine as editor-in-chief, co-produced the PBS program Gourmet's Diary of a Foodie, hosted Gourmet's Adventures With Ruth and served as culinary editor for the Modern Library, and has won six James Beard Foundation Awards.
