Sloane Crosley, born in 1978, is an American writer based in New York City whose humorous essays are gathered into collections: I Was Told There'd Be Cake (2008), How Did You Get This Number (2010) and Look Alive Out There (2018). Crosley has also published the novel Cult Classic (2022) and the memoir Grief Is for People (2024), an account built around the death of a friend, Russell Perreault. Away from writing, Crosley worked as a publicist at Random House's Vintage Books division and as an adjunct professor on Columbia University's MFA programme. Ten books are catalogued between 2008 and 2026, and the most recent, The Collected Stories of Katherine Mansfield (2026), also carries a Katherine Mansfield credit.
