T.S. Eliot (Thomas Stearns Eliot, 26 September 1888 to 4 January 1965) was a poet, essayist and playwright and a leading figure of modernist poetry in English. Born in St. Louis, Missouri, into a Boston Brahmin family, Eliot moved to England in 1914 at 25 and settled, worked and married there. Eliot received the 1948 Nobel Prize in Literature.
