Tayari Jones, born November 30, 1970, is an American author and academic best known for An American Marriage, a 2018 Oprah's Book Club selection and winner of the 2019 Women's Prize for Fiction. Jones studied at Spelman College, the University of Iowa and Arizona State University. After serving as Andrew Dickson White Professor-at-large at Cornell, Jones became Charles Howard Candler Professor of Creative Writing at Emory University.
