Tim Severin (1940-2020) was a British explorer and historian who retraced the voyages of legendary travellers and wrote about them. The Sindbad Voyage (1982) won the Thomas Cook Travel Book Award, and Severin received medals from both the Royal Geographical Society and the Royal Scottish Geographical Society.
