Tom McCarthy, born 1969, is an English writer and artist who took Swedish citizenship after Brexit. A debut novel, Remainder (2005), took the Believer Book Award in 2008, and McCarthy has twice reached the Man Booker shortlist and won Yale's inaugural Windham-Campbell Literature Prize in 2013.
