Yoko Tawada, born on 23 March 1960, is a Japanese writer based in Berlin who writes in both Japanese and German. Tawada has been writer-in-residence at MIT and Stanford University. Awards won by Tawada include the Akutagawa Prize, the Tanizaki Prize, the Kleist Prize, the Goethe Medal and a National Book Award.
