The Penderwicks is Jeanne Birdsall's children's series about four sisters and their single-parent family. The first book, published by Knopf in 2005 and subtitled A Summer Tale of Four Sisters, Two Rabbits, and a Very Interesting Boy, was Birdsall's debut and took the National Book Award for Young People's Literature. That volume and The Penderwicks on Gardam Street (2008) both reached the New York Times bestseller list. Three more followed, at Point Mouette (2011), in Spring (2015) and at Last (2018), closing the series at five.
