Safehold is David Weber's science fiction series about a hidden human colony. Survivors settle a distant world named Safehold around the 31st century, hiding from the Gbaba, the alien enemy that ended every other human civilisation. Detection is avoided by abandoning electricity and industry altogether, and a religion enforces that retreat by treating scientific curiosity as heresy and technological innovation as a capital offence. Ten books run from Off Armageddon Reef (2007) to Through Fiery Trials (2019), fought largely as naval warfare in the manner of the age of fighting sail.
