Wonder is a children's book series by R.J. Palacio, opening with the novel Wonder on 14 February 2012. Palacio began writing after an encounter in which her young son reacted to a girl with a severe facial difference, and she took the book's name from the Natalie Merchant song, using its chorus as the prologue.
