Andre Aciman, born on 2 January 1951 in Alexandria, Egypt, is an Italian-American writer and a distinguished professor at the Graduate Center of the City University of New York. Aciman teaches the history of literary theory and the work of Marcel Proust there, and earlier taught creative writing at New York University and French literature at Princeton and Bard College. Wesleyan University named Aciman its Visiting Distinguished Writer in 2009.
