Cathleen Schine, born 1953, is an American novelist who earned a B.A. from Barnard College in 1975. Alice in Bed (1983) was the first book. Two early novels reached the screen: The Love Letter (1995) was filmed in 1999, and Rameau's Niece (1993) became the film The Misadventures of Margaret, starring Parker Posey. Publishers Weekly called The Three Weissmanns of Westport (2010) compulsively readable.
