Chris Riddell, born 13 April 1962 in South Africa, is an English illustrator, an occasional writer of children's books and a political cartoonist for the Observer. Riddell has won three Kate Greenaway Medals, and books written or illustrated by Riddell have taken three Nestlé Smarties Book Prizes. Riddell became UK Children's Laureate on 9 June 2015.
