A Winter's Promise took first place at the 2013 Gallimard-RTL-Telerama First Novel competition, and the quartet has sold over a million copies at Gallimard Jeunesse and appeared in twenty languages. In the Mirror Visitor Quartet, Ophelia reads the history held in objects and passes through mirrors. When a cataclysm breaks the world into a set of floating arks, each governed by an ancestor spirit, she is married off for political reasons and moved away from home, then makes her way through a court defined by secrecy and shifting alliances.
