Gerald Morris, an American author born 29 October 1963, retells the legends of King Arthur for preteen and teen readers. The Squire's Tales mixes traditional Arthurian stories, including Sir Gawain and the Green Knight and Tristan and Iseult, with plots of Morris's own invention. The early books follow Sir Gawain and, above all, Terence, an original character who serves as Gawain's squire.
