Graham Colin Swift FRSL, born 4 May 1949, is an English novelist, poet and short story writer. The Sweet Shop Owner (1980) was Swift's debut novel, and Shuttlecock (1981) won the Geoffrey Faber Memorial Prize in 1983. Waterland (1983) took the Guardian Fiction Prize, the Winifred Holtby Memorial Prize and the Grinzane Cavour Prize, and reached the Booker Prize shortlist. Out of This World followed in 1988.
