Jerome Klapka Jerome (2 May 1859 - 14 June 1927) was an English writer and humorist, born in Walsall in the Midlands. After the death of Jerome's father in 1871, Jerome held a clerical post and spent three years as an actor. The comic travelogue Three Men in a Boat (1889) is the work Jerome is best known for, with Three Men on the Bummel as its sequel and the essay collections Idle Thoughts of an Idle Fellow (1886) and Second Thoughts of an Idle Fellow beside it. The catalogue holds 30 titles, among them Stage-Land (1889), Told After Supper (1891), The New Utopia (1891) and Novel Notes (1893).
